San Francisco, California

Urban Ecology is partnering with Literacy for Environmental Justice (LEJ) to provide a participatory design process involving four LEJ youth Community Geographers. Urban Ecology will introduce the youth to the concepts involved in site planning and landscape design with a special focus on native plants and habitat restoration. The youth interns will then develop their own landscape and planting designs for the areas adjacent to the proposed Living Classroom building at Heron’s Head Park in Bayview Hunter’s Point, San Francisco. The Living Classroom will be the first environmental education center in southeastern San Francisco.
