Mabel Howard Apartments

Resources for Community Development is a Berkeley-based non-profit developer of affordable housing. To date, RCD has completed 407 units in the cities of Berkeley, Oakland, Emeryville, Bay Point, Hayward, Concord, and Antioch, with another 146 units in predevelopment and construction. Its developments serve low income and special needs groups, such as families women and children, veterans, the frail elderly, the disabled, and people living with HIV/AIDS. RCD works closely with local governments, tenant associations, neighborhood groups and other community-based non-profit organizations to ensure that its projects contribute to the development and stability of their neighborhoods.

RCD’s Over 60 Senior Apartments (also known as the Mabel Howard Apartments) is a mixed-use development, located at a formerly vacant site in southwest Berkeley, that provides 40 units of senior housing located above a new 18,000 square foot geriatric health center. The four-story building is fully accessible, and includes a second-floor courtyard and garden. The project incorporates a reduced amount of clinic parking as it is located near several bus lines.
