In the summer of 2003, Urban Ecology held a community workshop in Oakland’s Eastlake district to solicit ideas for improving the local open space, Clinton Park.

At a lively workshop conducted in four languages, about 50 residents and merchants spoke passionately and enthusiastically about reclaiming Clinton Park as a space that serves and nurtures the community’s many different cultures. Now the City of Oakland is listening. They recently approved $500,000 to improve Clinton Park.
