The Olson Company was founded in 1988 with the goal of working with cities to create high quality for-sale housing in established communities throughout California. Over the course of this twelve-year history, The Olson Company has entered into public/private partnerships with over 30 City Redevelopment Agencies throughout California to provide innovative housing solutions meeting city requirements. The company recognizes that infill housing solutions require neighborhood complimentary architecture, difficult entitlement processes, frequent environmental remediation, and unique selling challenges.
Currently, The Olson Company is working on the Richmond Transit Village in partnership with The City of Richmond and the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART). Designed by Peter Calthorpe, the 231 townhome and loft project will provide for-sale housing adjacent to the Richmond BART Station, which provides BART, Amtrack, and AC Transit bus service. In addition to the residential component of the village, retail services will also be featured as well as a community Cultural Arts facility. Residents will enjoy the convenience of an urban living environment with the ease of accessing mass transit. This unique urban village combines residential, commercial, retail, community, and transit uses and serves as a model for future transit-oriented developments throughout the State.
